Ewa Maas, M.Ed.
Founder/Executive Director

ewa.maas@startpbc.org
Ewa grew up in Delray Beach and is an alumni of Atlantic High School where she currently teaches Special Education.  She also holds a Masters in Special Education.

STARTpbc was inspired by her son (formerly foster son), now 27 years old, she and the family took him in when he was her student at 17 years old, she mentored him, completed the foster parent classes with her husband, after 10 weeks he moved into their home with their three other children, and became one of the family. Throughout his years with them, there have been several "teachable moments", in addition to helping most of his friends with issues they encountered.
She is an advocate for her elementary, middle, and high school students, past and present. Over the last 20+ years she has helped many former and current students through life's roadblocks with a passion for helping and watching "children" grow at any age.

STARTpbc was created through her desire to communicate her knowledge and experience to adults ages 18-26 who have been lost in the system and forgotten.

Mission Statement

The mission of STARTpbc is to improve the quality of life for the age group of 18-26, ensuring they will become successful members of the community through networking and mentoring. START provides support for individuals through life coaching and access to professionals in their area of need.

About Us

  • START (Strategies for Today's Adults Reaching for Tomorrow) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. START provides resources in person with  assistance in: life coaching, life skills, strategies for overcoming obstacles, support and access to legal, medical and business professionals in order to mentor or guide individuals 18 years old up to 26 years old.

  • STARTpbc was founded in 2021 as a result of an increasing number of former high school graduates and non-graduates in the Delray, Boynton, and Boca Raton area reaching out to former teachers for life help. Post high school, these individuals were seeking help in areas ranging from child custody cases, repairing credit, preparing their own taxes, reinstating and obtaining drivers licenses, writing resumes, applying for FAFSA as an adult, career and job changes, adjudicating, and sealing or expunging felonies or criminal charges, as well as getting into an apartment or home on their own or owning their on car.

Vision Statement

We want to see young adults in the community thriving in their personal lives and having careers they feel passionate about. We want to see an increase of young adults becoming role models to the youth in the community.

STARTpbc is seeking grants and donations starting with a goal of $50,000 for the first three years.
